Campaign description

This ad was hinged on a popular and running Nigerian joke about how many words used by Nigerians are called twice. This societal truth plays out heavily in food consumed by Nigerians and so the brand sought to use this as a metaphor for Nigerian opponents in a crucial semifinal match against South Africa whose national team is called Bafana Bafana (Boys Boys). With the AFCON tournament in a fever pitch, the execution was framed as a scoreboard that set up the joke with a list of popular food names twice like Puff Puff, Chin Chin and then lastly adding Bafana Bafana to clearly imply the pending defeat and ‘chopping’ of the team to Nigeria’s super eagles. The video was enhanced by the popular trumpet sounds played by the Nigerian football supporters' club.
